8 days and counting....

Since I started this new way of eating, I have been successful to avoid meat. Yesterday, I went to Starbucks to get a quick breakfast on the way to class. My first thought was to get the Perfect Oatmeal. As I was sitting in the drive-thru, I began to think about the Sausage, Egg and Cheese sandwich they have. I was considering ordering that instead. I decided to pull up the Starbucks app on my iPhone and check into the ingredients. The list was so long, it didn't fit on the the iPhone's screen. That shook me back to reality. I ordered the oatmeal and a piece of banana bread. The banana bread had  a small list of natural ingredients which made it more appealing and seemed like it would be a better choice for my afternoon snack. It was a close one, but I managed to stay on the wagon.

Tonight, I plan to soak some beans that I will cook in the crockpot tomorrow. I am feeling pretty good, so far. I am looking forward to finding new ways to choose the right foods for the best nutrition and that support this life change. Change isn't easy. It is very rewarding, however, when I am able to overcome my emotional desires with  regards to food selection. Little by little, bit by bit, I am working my way into a new life.
