They say it takes 30 day to break a habit and 90 days to form a new one. Well, I have hit the 30 day mark of breaking my meat-eating habit! I am so excited about this day. It is a milestone in my life and and the first mile in the marathon to good, healthy living. Now that I have hit day 30, I am going to start incorporating exercise into my daily routine. Whether it is 15 minutes or 2 hours, I am gonna make it happen! This will be the next stage in the formation of the new me. Little by little, I am transforming not only my body, but my mind and emotions towards food, good health and what it means to be truly healthy. Since changing my lifestyle is not only about eating differently, it is important that I take the time I need to make gradual changes that I can live with the rest of my life. Yes, there are plenty of things to change, to stop and start and to move on from or to. Making these changes mindful and thought events lead to lasting change rather than impulsive notions which tend to lead to disappointment and failure.
I have found over the last 30 days that I can totally live without meat even after relying on it as a staple in most meals. There is life after meat! Eating fruits, vegetables, and whole grains has really not been a sacrifice at all. I have come to love the complexity of flavors and versatility in which they can be prepared and enjoyed. This is an exciting and inspiring realization that gives me strength and courage for the next round in the ring. Moving more will give me a greater since of what I can do and help me to take this weight loss and quest for health to a new level. I am looking forward to the days ahead.
